What is Keto Diet

The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that shares many similarities with Atkins and low carb diets. This includes significantly reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. Carbohydrate reduction keeps your body in a metabolic state called ketosis.

When this happens, your body becomes more efficient at burning fat for energy. It converts fat in the liver into ketones, which provide energy to the brain.

It is a metabolic condition in which your body uses fat for fuel instead of carbs.

This happens when you significantly reduce carbohydrate consumption, which limits the supply of glucose (sugar) to your body, which is a major source of energy for cells.

Adherence to a ketogenic diet is the most effective way to enter into ketosis. In general, limit carb consumption to 20 to 50 grams per day and include fats such as meat, fish, eggs, nuts and healthy oils.

It is also important to control your protein intake. This is because if taken in large amounts, the protein turns into glucose, which slows down your infection in ketosis.

Occasional fasting can also help you get rid of ketosis faster. There are many types of intermittent fasting, but the most common method is to limit food intake to 8 hours per day and fast the remaining 16 hours.

Blood, urine and breath tests are available, which can help determine if you have entered ketosis by measuring the amount of ketone your body produces.
